Para Taekwondo/Poomsae : Athletes Display Rich Talents

Over 100 athletes from across the country participated in the competition that took place in Yaounde recently.

The national para taekwondo championship took place in Yaounde recently. Organised by the Cameroon Taekwondo Federation (FECATAE), the competition brought together over 100 athletes from clubs across the country. Among the athletes were those living with disabilities. The competition featured two disciplines; the Poomsae and Kyorugi. The public that turned out massively watched with enthusiasm young Cameroonians display rich talents in the sport. It was equally an opportunity for the technical bench to detect new talents. 
In the women’s individual Para Poomsae, Michelle Ogata Mballa from Hilton Taekwondo club won gold medal while Darius Youssa Cheugoue, 14, from Oshiro Taekwondo Club won gold in the men’s category. In Kyorugi, Antoinette Dassi from Sejong Daewang Taekwondo Club (-65kg) category grabbed gold. In the men's category, Alain Clovis Eleme Mbassi (-70 kg) and his team-mate Cédric Okala Mvondo (-80 kg) from the PHD Taekwondo Club each took the top step of the podium.
