2023 Women’s Afrobasket : Cameroon Begins Campaign Today

The Lionesses pooled in Group B starts with Mozambique in the competition that rumbles off this July 28, 2023 and ends on August 5, 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda.


The 2023 edition of the Women’s Afrobasket championship begins today July 28, 2023 at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda. Cameroon is pooled in Group B alongside Mozambique and Guinea. The Lionesses begin their campaign today July 28, 2023 against Mozambique before meeting Guinea on Sunday July 30, 2023.
The first match against Mozambique will be the most determining one for the Lionesses in this group phase. This is because Mozambique is their greatest challenger in the group looking at their performances on paper.
Cameroon might be coming into the game full of confidence but it should be a daring one that will push their opponents to the wall. The best performance of the Lionesses this far has been the silver medal clinched in 2015. In 2021, when the competition was hosted at home, Cameroon failed to better this performance, they could only end up with a bronze medal. This should be enough motivation for them to play every game in this competition as if it is a final, knowing that the objective is the trophy that they have been longing for several years. The team has several key players but Dulcy Fankam, the only Cameroon lady playing in the Women NBA should have a wealth of experience to share. She has been at the top of her game getting several distinctions from renowned bodies.
