Francophonie Games : Heroic Welcome For Cameroonian Flagbearers

“The national sports movement and all the people of Cameroon heartily congratulate Team Cameroon for its brilliant participation at the 9th edition of the La Francophonie Games “Kinshasa 2023”. That was the message written on banners at the Yaounde Nsimalen Airport yesterday August 7, 2023 during a ceremony to welcome Cameroonian flagbearers who defended the country valuably at the just-ended Francophonie Games in Kinshasa. The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi led the delegation of athletes from Kinshasa. 
Sports diehards from Yaounde and elsewhere thronged the airport premises to show their love and encouragement for the athletes. The chilly weather in Yaounde yesterday did not discourage the fans who came out massively to welcome their stars. The brass band of the National Higher Institute of Youth and Sports was there to animate the event with song and dance.  It was at 1:58 p.m. that the sports lovers had a glimpse of the athletes at the arrival hall. That alone sparked off joy and jubilation on seeing the heroes who defended the country in the Francophonie Games. The joy on the faces of the athletes and officials was clear. Kolle Etame Herverge gold medallist, 4x100m relay and silver medallist in the 4x400m race said she was happy with her performance especially as it was her first participation in the Francophonie Games. She said after the rest period, training will begin as from next month to prepare for the African Athletics Championship.
