CHAN VOLLEYBALL : Let The Battle Begin!

Following the draw ceremony yesterday, Cameroon plays the opening match of the competition today against Burundi at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.

The long awaited event is finally here. The 2023 edition of the Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship effectively takes off on the pitch today August 16, 2023 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex. Following the draw ceremony yesterday August 15, 2023 at the same venue, Cameroon plays the opening match of the competition against Burundi. The draw ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi. In his remark, he expressed confidence in Cameroon’s capacity of successfully hosting the competition especially as the country has done so for previous high- profile events.
Out of the 19 teams expected, 12 effectively answered present and were pooled in two groups of six according to the rules of the competition whose official opening ceremony is billed for today. According to the programme, the competition will be opened by the representative of the Head of State, in the presence of other high profile dignitaries including the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi. The spectators will equally be entertained with the march past of the different delegations as well as an opening parade.
The kick-off will thus be given for almost two weeks of competition at both the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex and the Mfandena Gymnasium. Cameroon, just like the other teams are vying for the prestigi...
