Rwanda Gets First Semifinal Spot

They picked their qualification yesterday August 22, 2023 after beating Algeria 3-2 in the quarterfinals at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.

The Amavubis of Rwanda have qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship in Yaounde, Cameroon. They picked their qualification yesterday August 22, 2023 after beating Algeria 3-2 (25-23, 25-15, 18-25, 23-25, 14-17) in the quarterfinals at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex. It was a grueling encounter that kept spectators on their feet shouting at the top of the voices and encouraging the players. 
The match began with Rwanda scoring the first point causing the Algerian technical bench to ask for the first technical time out to restore order in the team. Algeria put up a strong fight and took control of the game with powerful strikes. 
The Rwandans fought back with more calculated blocks but made several individual mistakes that hampered their performance. Algeria went ahead and won the first set (25-23). The Algerians continued with their domination in the second set and the set (25-15). Rwanda came up much stronger in the third set with a beautiful game style but they lost concentration and of course lost their points. The Rwandans however did not did not give up as they gathered courage and won the set (25-18). That served as a booster for the Rwandans who had the support of the huge crowd that turned out to watch the encounter. The bravery of the Rwandans helped them to win the fourth set (25-23) to the detriment of the Algerians. Rwanda carried the day after beating Algeria (17-14) in the tie-break. Rwand...
