Chumba, The Iron Lady

The Kenyan player was named Most Valuable player (MVP) of the 2023 Women's African Nations Volleyball Championship.

Even before her name was sounded at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex, the volleyball lovers who answered present yesterday August 24, 2023 to live the final bend of the Women's African Nations Volleyball Championship already began murmuring “Chumba”. Her team mates of the Kenyan national team were not left out as they lifted her up and conscious of her efforts, they knew she deserved the prestigious award of the Most Valuable Player. She is Sharon Chepchumba, but popularly known as Chumba. She is the MVP: a compensation for standing for her team when she was needed most in the 2023 Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship. Despite her injury concerns, the 24-year-old Opposite Spiker who plays in Greece recovered and took the tournament by storm; marveling fans each time she stepped on the court. Each time she volleys up, a point is often counted. Her spikes, blocks and smashes were always very energetic.
