African Floorball Cup : Cameroon Finishes Fourth

The third edition of the competition ended in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on September 17, 2023.

Cameroon is gaining fame in floorball in the international scene. The national men’s floorball team participated in the third edition of the African Floorball Cup that ended in Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on September 17, 2023. For four days, lovers of floorball in Africa and the world had an opportunity to watch young players display rich talents in the sport. During the competition, Cameroon played four matches. The national men’s floorball team lost to Côte d’Ivoire 3-1 in their first match. In the second outing, Cameroon beat Togo 6-1. In the semi-final, Cameroon lost to Burkina Faso 9-1 in a tough encounter. The Lions equally lost their third group game against Kenya 5-3. 
The President of the Cameroon Floorball Association, Elise Flore Kana said the good news from the African Floorball Cup is that the trophy for the best player in the competition went to Cameroon’s Boris Ndatchoua. Apart from that, Cameroon won the medal for the best participating team. For a first participation, Cameroon reached the semi-finals and they finished on the fourth spot behind Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire and Kenya. Burkina Faso were crowned champions in both the men’s and women’s categories. The passion and love for floorball was on show throughout all the matches played on a smaller field and with 2×15 minute games to allow multiple matches to be played in a day. The competition took place four years after the last edition in Nairobi in 2019.
