Social Democratic Front : Preparations Heighten For Impactful Convention

A National Executive Committee meeting chaired by the First Vice Chairman of the party, Hon. Joshua Osih on October 7, 2023 evaluated planning activities ahead of the convention.

The 10th convention of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) holds on October 27-28, 2023 in Yaounde. Prior to this date, a National Executive Committee meeting chaired by the First Vice Chairman of the party, Hon. Joshua Osih held on October 7, 2023 to evaluate preparations to the convention that will see the election of a new National Chairman to replace the emblematic John Fru Ndi who died on June 12, 2023. Besides preparations to the convention, various leaders of reorganisation commissions of basic organs of the party presented their reports.
Hon. Joshua Osih in his opening remark said the convention should serve as an opportunity for party members to build bridges and not walls, so as to enable them come out stronger and reconquer lost territories. “You know that preparing such a convention is an uphill task and we need all on board to make it a success. I think this convention is the first without our late national chairman, so we will have to pay tribute to him. He is one of the founders of the party and if we are standing here today, it is thanks to him. And we will have to re-assess where we are, make sure that we give ourselves the instruments necessary to perform in his absence. This is because he had this charisma that most of us don’t have. It is just normal that we will have to relook our modus operandi,” he stated. The First Vice Chairman added that it will also be a chance for some people to get new mandates and for new faces to get into the decision-making body of the party. He expressed the wish to see this convention provide the party with a locomotive that can draw a very long SDF trip.
