Africa Women’s Basketball League : Two Cameroonian Clubs Battle For Spots

Overdose Up Station and University of Douala join CNSS of DR Congo in the qualifying tournament which begins November 3, 2023 in Yaounde.

The qualifying tournament for the 2023 Africa Women’s Basketball League is slated to run from November 3-5, 2023 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex. Three clubs are competing in the Central African Zone 4 qualifiers amongst which two from Cameroon and one from Congo. The two Cameroonian clubs include the champions of Cameroon, Overdose Up Station and University of Douala Basketball Club while CNSS will represent DR Congo. Going by last year’s rules, two clubs from the zone are expected to qualify for the final phase of the competition. In all, ten clubs from different parts of the continent will battle it out in Egypt for the right to win the newly-rebranded FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women from December 8-17. 
In 2022, Overdose Up Station and CNSS of DR Congo picked the two available spots for the final phase after the qualifying tournament that brought together the identical trio. Despite the majestic performance of Overdose Up Station in the qualifiers, they could not participate in the competition due to alleged financial difficulties.
