MTN Elite Two : Championship Begins In Earnest

Legendary Tonnerre Kalara Club of Yaounde has begun the 2023/2024 season on a tie. The Yaounde based club played a 2-2 draw with Renaissance FC of Ngoumou during the first playing day of the MTN Elite Two championship in group A that took place at the Olembe Annex A Stadium yesterday, October 25, 2023. Thousands of football diehards were seen in all corners of the stadium especially as it was the first playing day of the season. It was a grueling encounter that kept fans spellbound shouting and cheering the players. TKC Yaounde and Renaissance of Ngoumou, former MTN Elite One teams have proven that they are out for business this season. 
TKC Yaounde began by dominating the game with a good play style. That paid off as the Tonnerre Kalara boys opened scores eight minutes after kick off through Guy Marcel Zoua. Even though TKC played well, they squandered their scoring chances. Renaissance put up a strong fight but squandered their opportunities. This notwithstanding, Renaissance made use of an opportunity at the 33rd minute when Michel Ebode netted in a goal for the team following a defence error. The goal served as a booster for the two teams that were all out to grab the first three points of the day. At half time, the score line was 1-1. 
On resumption, TKC continued with their onslaught putting much pressure on Renaissance. At the 52nd minute, Guy Marcel Zoua scored the second goal for TKC giving the team a greater advantage over their opponents. The Ngoumou club fought hard with a strong defense wall warding off any attempts by TKC. Despite the difference, Renaissance of Ngounmou did not relent in their efforts.
