Women’s Handball World Cup : Lionesses Intensify Preparations

Less than one month to the competition, the Lionesses are undergoing intensive training in Yaounde to ensure an honourable performance at the World Cup.

The national women’s handball team continues with preparations ahead of the 26th edition of the IHF World Women’s Handball Championship. The competition will take place from November 29 to December 17, 2023 in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Less than one month to the competition, the girls of Coach Bertin Tabeth Njantou are undergoing intensive training at the Mfandena Gymnasium and the sports hall of the National Institute of Youths and Sports in Yaounde. As part of their preparations, the Lionesses played a friendly match with a selection of male players called ‘La Team’ on Saturday November 4, 2023 at the Mfandena Gymnasium. The national women’s team were beaten 30-22 in thrilling encounter. Half time score was 11-22. The friendly encounter was an opportunity for the technical staff to make a first evaluation of the players after two weeks of training. 
During the first training session, Coach Tabeth Njantou intended to correct the weaknesses noticed during the Olympic qualifiers in Luanda and consolidate the achievements.
