World Sambo Championship : Cameroon Wins Additional Medal

Nji Mouluh Seidou (-98kg) and Maxwell Djantou (+98kg) won gold and silver in the competition that is ongoing in Armenia.


Cameroonian athletes at the just-ended World Sambo Championship in Yereven, Armenia made the country proud. Four athletes represented Cameroon in the competition; three for combat sambo and one for sports sambo. Among the four that represented Cameroon in the competition, two won medals for the country.
During the first day of the competition, Nji Mouluh Seidou who is a former world champion emerged world champion for a second time the in the -98kg combat sambo after beating Dzhavatkhanov Abdulkhalim from Russia. Djantou Nana Maxwell won silver in the +98kg combat sambo. He was beaten in the final by a Russian. It should be recalled that Djantou Nana Maxwell was world champion in 2021. The other Cameroonian athletes, Fokam Célestin (-71kg) sambo sport and Tombou Mouafo Julien (+98kg) were knocked out of the competition.
Maxwell Djantou said he did not win but he has learnt a lot of new techniques. He said the promise to Cameroonians is that he and his team mates will work hard in order to put up a good performance in the African Sambo Championships in Egypt next year and also the All African Games
