PCP-AFOP Programme : Minister Shades Light On Implementation

Dr. Taiga presented the objectives and progress made in the programme at the National Assembly on November 24, 2023.


Enhancing the agriculture, livestock and fisheries sectors for sustainable development is one of the focal points of the National Development Strategy 2030 of Cameroon. As such, the government partners with other actors, notably countries and associations, to effectively attain this objective. One of such partnership is with France, through the French Development Agency and within the framework of the Debt Reduction and Development Contract (C2D).
One of such projects is the Support Programme for the Renovation and Development of Vocational Training in the Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Sectors, Consolidation and Sustainability Phase (PCP-AFOP). The PCP-AFOP agreement establishes the framework for cooperation in the field of agro-pastoral and rural education and training. With the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industry (MINEPIA) as supervisory and implementing authority of the programme, Hon. Engelbert Nengono Essomba requested the Minister, Dr. Taiga to present an update on AFD's correspondence to MINADER on rural C2D programmes, with specific points on PCP-AFOP. The said updates were presented by the Minister during a question and answer plenary session chaired by Deputy Speaker, Kombo Gberi.
In his response, Minister Taiga said the programme which is fruit of cooperation with France within the framework of C2D has known three phases to the tune of FCFA 69.2 billion aims to contribute to youth employment and the inclusive and sustainable growth of rural areas in Cameroon.
