MTN Elite One : Dynamo Confirms, Stade Renard Trembles

While the boys of Douala consolidated their superiority in Group A by defeating Aigle, Group B leaders Stade Renard, fell to Victoria United on match day 12 played over the weekend.

It was a 12th playing day of surprises, with some big wigs falling to lower placed teams. The encounters billed in stadiums across the country ended on Sunday December 24, 2023. Dynamo of Douala still has its head high in Group A leading with 24 points and followed by Canon with 20 points. Canon defeated Gazelle 2-0 to maintain their six-match unbeaten run. The Yaounde-based club has been a serious contender to Dynamo at the top of the standings. This defeat caused Gazelle to drop from the third to the fourth position. The Garoua-based club was replaced in the third position by Bamboutos that has returned to winning ways. After recording two successive defeats, Bamboutos defeated Union Douala 3-0 on Saturday December 23, 2023 to renew with victory. PWD also defeated Colombe 2-0 to better its position on the standings.
Pool B was the center of upsets. First, group leaders, Stade Renard were defeated by one of the bottom placed teams, Victoria United (1-2) at the Mbouda Stadium on Friday December 22, 2023. Despite this win, the Melong club consolidated its lead and should be thankful to the gods of football that allowed Fauve Azur defeat Coton Sport of Garoua. 1-0 on Sunday December 24, 2023. In fact, this was one of the biggest upsets of this playing day.
