Zambia : Come Back Of The Chipolopolos

The dream of the Copper Bullets is to end the long trophy drought during the competition in Côte d’Ivoire.

Zambia has participated in the Africa Cup of Nations 18 times. Their first participation was in 1974. Zambia is among the top ten teams with most AFCON appearances. The best performance of the Chipolopolos of Zambia is in 2012 when they won the prestigious trophy. The head coach, Avram Grant, has named the 27 players who could represent the Chipolopolos in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, Côte d'Ivoire 2023. Zambia, who were African champions for the only time in 2012 and are currently ranked at 88 by the world football governing body (FIFA). The objective of the Chipolopolo of Zambia is to fight for a second crown in Côte d’Ivoire. 
The Zambian team is in Group F alongside Morocco, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Zambia finished on top of group H with 13 points securing a ticket to the AFCON. The Zambia men’s national team began training at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia. The Africa Cup of Nations bound squad is training under the supervision of the head coach Avram Grant. The Chipolopolos later relocated to Saudi Arabia where the Copper Bullets will play two international friendly matches. They will face the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on January 9, 2024 and an other against an opponent yet to be disclosed. The friendly matches will provide the litmus test for Avram Grant’s group.
