Cameroon-Central African Republic : Fraternal Neighbours

Nature (land borders) bind Cameroon and the Central African Republic. There are two neigbouring countries that use the same currency, have common interest as they belong to the same economic bloc and have similar challenges. Bilateral cooperation between the two nations border on mutual benefits and respect, aimed at improving the wellbeing of their different populations. The objective is to meet during formal encounters and intensify such ties. The audience granted by the President of the Republic, Paul Biya to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and of Central Africans Aboard, Sylvie Baipo Temon, yesterday January 16, 2024 falls within the framework of one of such meetings geared at reviewing cooperation ties and mapping out prospects for the future. She was the special envoy of the President of the Central African Republic, Prof. Faustin Archange Touadera, current President of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC). 
With diplomatic relations being established in 1962, there exists a number cooperation accords between Cameroon and the Central African Republic in different domains such as communication, personnel, culture, technical assistance, issues of nationality, security, trade and transport (land and air). Structured formal consultations are organised within the Mixed Commission, created in June 1966 and instituted in 1971. The socio-political situation of the country unfortunately interrupted the regular holding of the Commission, but the 12th session was held in May 2019 in Bangui and served as an opportunity for the two parties to examine their multiform cooperation.
