The team that has conceded just two goals in regular playtime in its last five matches, hopes to win a fourth title when they take on Côte d’Ivoire this Sunday in the final.

Remembered for their slow start and haunted by past disappointments, Nigeria's Super Eagles have defied expectations and soared to the AFCON 2023 final. Coach Jose Peseiro's men, once doubted after conceding in their opening match, finally finished second in their group with two wins and one draw; amongst which a 1-0 win over Côte d’Ivoire, that happens to be their opponents in the final this Sunday. 
The Nigerian team has indeed now transformed into a defensive powerhouse, conceding only twice in regular playtime in their last five games. This remarkable turnaround has propelled them to the final, bringing down tough adversities like five-time champions Cameroon, Angola and South Africa in the knock out stages. The team is thus just a step away fora potential fourth AFCON title when they take on host Côte d’Ivoire for the second time in the ongoing competition.
Nigeria's newfound defensive solidity, masterminded by team captain William Troost-Ekong is a testament to Peseiro's tactics and the players' dedication. It has provided a platform for their attacking flair.
