Lom and Djerem Division : Chantal Biya's Humanitarian Caravan In Garoua-Boulai

The Circle of Friends of Cameroon offered diverse gifts to the population of the locality in the East Region yesterday, February 26, 2024.

 

“Thank You. Merci. Gassa Ossoko Mama Chantal Biya and the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC).” The population of the Lom and Djerem Division in the East Region, in their mother tongue and the two official languages of the country have expressed gratitude to the First Lady of Cameroon, Chantal Biya and to members of her charitable association, CERAC, for the gift of love, show of solidarity and the tools for empowerment. This was during a ceremony to donate equipment by CERAC to health facilities, youth multipurpose centres and rural women in the Lom and Djerem Division of the East Region. The event, which took place yesterday, February 26, 2024, at Garoua -Boulai, also permitted the CERAC delegation to have an educational talk with students in the mocality on social ills affecting their generation.
Representing the First Lady at the event was the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Likeng née Mendomo, who is also one of the Vice Presidents of the College of Advisers at CERAC. Also, several members of government and local authorities witnessed the event.
After covering some 588 kilometres (approximately 9 hours) by road from Yaounde to Garoua- Boulai, the CERAC delegation went straight to real business. By 8: 00 a.m, yesterday, the Ladies were seen within the premises of the Government High School Garoua-Boulai for an educational talk. This was within the backdrop of the 58th edition of the National Youth Day. Students from the Government Technical High School, Government Bilingual High School and those of Government High School Garoua-Boulai had already gathered to receive the major lectures of the day. Topics for discussion included, HIV/AIDs, drug consumption in the school milieu, social media, cyber criminality, citizenship education and the different structures created by the First Lady of Cameroon. The educational talk also permitted students to better understand the values of a good citizen and the different structures piloting the humanitarian actions of the First Lady, Chantal Biya.
Thereafter, the CERAC delegation moved to the Garoua-Boulai ceremonial ground to hand over gifts to the different strata of the population. Didjatou Amadou on behalf of the beneficiaries   thanked the First Lady and the CERAC delegation for the special care and attention accorded to the underprivileged in society. “We waited for the arrival of CERAC for a very long time, today, we have realised that CERAC does not forget any locality. Our smiles and dance styles are signs of our satisfaction” she noted. The Divisional Delegate for the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family in the Lom and Djerem Division, Hortense Mondjo, joined rural women to say the gifts will contribute in improving their living conditions.
The Head of the Bertoua Health District, Dr Pouth Kédé said three of the Lom and Djerem health structures are honoured to receive donations from CERAC. Most of these structures were in a dilapidated state with obsolete equipment.
