Indomitable Lions : Sterile International Break

As the March FIFA window officially took-off yesterday, there is no international friendly on the agenda for Cameroon while other African nations are gearing up for an active session.


The 2024 March FIFA window officially took-off yesterday March 18, 2024. This international break is evidently going to be a sterile one for five-time champions of Africa, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. This is due to the fact that the team which is yet to sign a new trainer as at press time yesterday after the departure of Rigobert Song, has no international friendly on its programme. In clear terms, as at the time of this report, fans had no clue of how their cherished national football team will work in a crucial break like this which leads up to strategic football challenges including the qualifiers of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and AFCON looming on the horizon.
This situation comes as a disappointment for fans still digesting Cameroon's underwhelming performance at the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, where they were eliminated in the round of 16 by runners up, Nigeria. The lack of scheduled fixtures during this international window raises questions about Cameroon's strategic planning. While other African nations like Nigeria and Côte d'Ivoire are using this period to hone their tactics with friendlies, the Lions remain inactive.
