Cameroon Investment Forum : Investors Lured Into Cameroon

This was the outcome of the 4th edition of the Cameroon Investment Forum which opened in Douala yesterday 17 April, 2024.

The fourth edition of the Cameroon Investment Forum (CIF), which opened in Douala yesterday 17 April, has become a veritable platform for investors to discover Cameroon's potential and explore new investment opportunities. From the 17th to the 19th of April, investors will be able to listen to debates and presentations on the various themes in order to gain important information on how to invest in Cameroon and what the country has to offer. Through exhibitions, B2B meetings and networking, economic operators and companies are showcaseding their know-how and seeking new partnerships for greater investment.
During the opening ceremony on Wednesday 17 April, speaker after speaker emphasised that Cameroon is a good zone for investment, with some calling it a "positive risk zone" when it comes to investing and doing business. The forum, organised by the Investment Promotion Agency - API, has a vision to attract foreign investors to Cameroon. This was reiterated by the Acting Director General of API, Donatus Boma. The CIF is a true business and collaboration network to stimulate the Cameroonian economy and intensify the import substitution dynamic in Cameroon by mobilising and directing investments into niche sectors such as rice, maize, fish, milk and palm oil. "It is a platform for high-level consultations and exchange of experiences. It is an excellent opportunity for investors to understand why Cameroon is an investment destination," Boma added. For him, the forum is meant to encourage local investors and attract foreign direct investment in products aimed at increasing local production and processing. This initiative, he added, should help reduce Cameroon's deficit caused by the importation of staple foods in large quantities.
