Educational Book Publishing: Chinese Firm Seeks Local Partnerships

Phoenix Publishing and Media Incorporated is today the fifth largest book publisher in the world.

Phoenix Publishing and Media Incorporated, with headquarters in Nanjing, the capital of China’s south-eastern Jiangsu Province, is owned by the State. It has since grown from its humble beginning in 1954 to become the leading educational book publisher in China today and the fifth largest in the world in terms of distribution, profits, assets and net assets. It also manages large data and cooperates with several companies abroad.

Phoenix boasts over 100 book stores in China, three filming companies and several digital firms. Its production lines have been upgraded to cutting edge standards. The company runs a state of the art printing plant in Namibia that was set up in 2014. It currently does business in Ethiopia and Kenya and has carried out printing tasks in other African nations. Phoenix’s Vice President, She Jiang Tao, said the Namibian press, which cost 50 Million Yuan (about 4.4 Billion FCFA), will serve the rest of Africa. “This is cheaper for clients than transporting printed material from China,” he added.

In order to further boost its presence on the continent, Phoenix looks forward to entering into partnerships with African authors and book publishers.
