MTN Elite One : Championship Title Battle Continues

After the decisions from the disciplinary committee, viable teams still have the chance to clinch glory as some Day 26 matches are programmed this weekend.

The 2024-2025 MTN Elite One championship title race has been thrown open again after a series of significant decisions from the federation’s disciplinary and homologation committee last week. Colombe Sportive of Dja and Lobo that looked untouchable, have seemingly lost these bragging rights and will have to wait a little before they can pronounce themselves champions. With two of their matches against Stade Renard of Melong and Bamboutos of Mbouda awaiting reprogramming following the committee's rulings, their claim to the title has been temporarily delayed. Despite this setback, the South Regional club has a golden opportunity to further solidify their position when they face AS Fortuna of Mfou at the Yaounde Military Stadium this Sunday, June 1, 2025. This encounter is one of the four Day 26 fixtures scheduled for Sunday, with the remaining four matches slated for Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
On paper, Colombe appears to be the superior side heading into their clash with AS Fortuna. The two teams find themselves at opposite ends of the table: Colombe is vying for championship glory, while AS Fortuna is battling to maintain their top-flight status.
