Colombe Sportive of Dja and Lobo: Finally, Champions!

Following their 3-0 win against Victoria United on June 8, 2025, the South Regional outfit has tasted the MTN Elite One championship glory 72 years after its creation.

Destiny can only be delayed, but it cannot be denied. This saying greatly holds true for Colombe Sportive of Dja and Lobo, that can now be officially called champions of the 2024-2025 season of the MTN Elite One Championship. The 3-0 victory on Matchday 27 against Victoria United on Sunday, June 8, 2025, was the final nail in the coffin. From facing relegation battles that delayed the realization of this feat, the club can now rest, for the job has finally been done, and the ultimate goal of clinching the crown, as spelled out from the beginning, has been achieved. It is historic because this is the first time the South Regional club is tasting championship glory since its creation in 1953. Mathematically, Sunday’s win took Colombe up to 60 points, 11 above second-placed Panthère Sportive of Nde and 12 above third-placed Coton Sport of Garoua. These direct followers have just three matches to play, and no matter what happens during these games, they will not be able to catch up with Colombe. On their part, the boys from the South Region have five more matches to play due to the fact that their games against Stade Renard of Limbe and Bamboutos Mbouda have to be rescheduled. Nonetheless, Colombe Sportive of Dja and Lobo have shown nothing but superiority and dominance, falling just once this far.
