Civic Engagement: British High Commission Launches Election Related App

The app “VoteCam”, launched yesterday June 10, 2025 will ease access to voters’ registration centres among other things.

The British High Commissioner to Cameroon, Matts Wood, has launched a ground-breaking initiative called “Vote Cam”. During the launching ceremony, yesterday June 10, at the residence of the High Commissioner, Matt Woods underscored that “VoteCam” has nothing to do with politics, for it is an application app that seeks to promote the civic engagement of all Cameroonians especially the youth. According to the High Commissioner, “VoteCam”, is not just about the upcoming presidential elections. It is an app which will be useful in all electoral processes nationwide as it empowers citizens by providing access to real-time election updates, voter registration points, and essential electoral information all in one user-friendly interface. The event was an opportunity for Matts Wood to appreciate the collaboration between the High Commission and Elections Cameroon. “The idea is to try to encourage young people to vote by bringing information closer to them who are always on their smart phones. This will help them perform their civic duty,” the High Commissioner underscored. The initiative is implemented by Actions for Development and Empowerment (ADE) and Community Solutions Media (CSM), with support from the British High Commission in Yaounde.
