2nd Bridge Over River Wouri: 84 Per cent Rate Of Execution

The Minister of Public Works made the announcement yesterday March 30, 2017 during a question and answer plenary at the Senate that saw five Cabinet Ministers grilled by Senators.

Construction works of the second bridge over the Wouri River in Douala, Littoral Region are 84 per cent executed. Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi of Public Works made the revelation yesterday March 30, 2017 in Yaounde during a question time plenary sitting at the Senate chaired by Marcel Niat Njifenji. The first question and answer for the 2017 legislative year saw four other Ministers questioned within the framework of controlling government action by the parliament.
Senator Pierre Flambeau Ngayap was worried about the slow pace of work and whether the locals whose properties have been damaged because of the project have received compensation. Public Works Minister stated that the project worth FCFA 2 billion which commenced in 2013 is being executed properly with 84 per cent of the job done so far. Complimentary works have also advanced to 51 per cent as the situation is under control. He assured that follow-up will be more vigorous so that the deadline is respected given that the project is among President Biya’s “Greater Realisation” projects aimed at facilitating movement of goods and persons and ensuring traffic fluidity in the economic capital.
