South West: Prime Minister Inspects Tiko Port Terminal

On a working visit to the city on September 26, 2025, Joseph Dion Ngute inspected ongoing projects to modernise the facility.
The beaming sunshine on Friday 26 September, 2025 ushered in the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute at the Moungo Bridge, gateway into the Tiko municipality as hundreds lined-up to welcome the august guest. Among those who rolled out the red carpet amidst drums of traditional dances to welcome him was South West Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai and a cream of administrative officers of the Fako Division, elected officials and traditional rulers. The Prime Minister was in Tiko to inspect projects ongoing to modernize the Tiko port terminal. Among the projects was the FCFA 10 million rehabilitation works on the 3km road from Tiko Town to the port (wharf). Addressing the population in the local pidgin language, Joseph Dion Ngute told them that “Presidthat Paul Biya has decided to modernize Tiko.” Tiko, he said, from time immemorial is about three things; port, CDC and airport, and President Paul Biya, he intimated, has guaranteed these three crucial things for Tiko. Prime Minister Dion Ngute reminded them that just few days ago, President Biya instructed the payment of the complete salary arears owed CDC workers between 2018 and 2022 and has equally authorized more funding of over FCFA 50 billion to rejuvenate the CDC. Amidst a thunderous applause, the PM stated that among all the other presidential candidates, it is only President Paul Biya who can guarantee that a son of the soil can continue serving as Prime Minister for sustainability of the good works.
