Africa Basketball Youth Camp: Two Cameroonian Girls Partake

Messina Marie Tchoungui and Shanice Mbaha empowered their skills in the event which took place from October 12-15, 2025 in Egypt.

The 5th edition of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Africa Girls Youth Camp

ended yesterday October 15, 2025. Hosted at the Hassan Moustafa Sports hall in Cairo Egypt, the session that started on October 12, 2025 brought together 40 young female athletes from 20 African countries, aimed at nurturing young players through high-level training and wellrounded education.

Amongst the 40 participants of the just-ended four-day girls’ camp were Cameroon’s Bronze medallists of the 2025 FIBA U16 women’s AfroBasket in Kigali; Marie Messina Tchoungui and Shanice Mbaha, accompanied by the team Cameroon U16 Womens’ Head Coach, Priscilla Mbianja.

Missioned to empower the young athletes with both technical and tactical skills through workshops and seminars, the hands-on gatherings under the supervision of 15 Afro-Basket Coaches edified the young athletes with both sporting and none sporting skills such as mental preparation, physical wellbeing, leadership, community life, and personal hygiene, which are considered vital tools to help young athletes navigate both sports and the society.
