Fight Against Prostrate Cancer : SOPECAM Women Champion Course

The four-day campaign culminated in sporting activities and educational talks on November 27 in Yaounde.

Members of the SOPECAM Women's Association (SOWA) recently hosted a workout session to conclude their four-day campaign against Prostate cancer.  Done under the theme “Blue November, grow your moustache as you would your health,” the multifaceted sessions organized from November 24 to 27, 2025, schooled participants on the causes, consequences, and ways to evade Prostate cancer. 
According to a participant, Hugues Marcel Tchoua, "the session provided salient information about Prostate cancer formerly oblivious to me. Now, I better know the dangers my lifestyle exposes me to." Coming at a time when Cameroon is grappling with high Prostate cancer rates, which according to Ministry of Public Health, accounts for about 14 per cent of all cancers in Cameroon and 84.5 per cent of genitourinary cancers in men, SOWA's president Tabe Maureen further underscored that "Prostate cancer just like other cancers has claimed several lives recently. Reasons why our major sponsor Camtel and Ministry of Public Health made provisions for free screening that ran from November 10 to December 1st, 2025 in Younde.” She added that reports from the Ministry of Public Health revealed that most men aged forty and above are liable to suffer from Prostate cancer.
