South West: 6,000 New Trash Bins to Strengthen Waste Management

Limbe (Fako) - The Limbe City Council (LCC) has taken a major step toward improving sanitation and urban cleanliness with the reception of more than 6,000 new trash bins, signaling what municipal authorities describe as an unprecedented push to strengthen waste management across the city. The consignment arrived at the Limbe City Council premises on Tuesday aboard four 40-foot trucks. Municipal police officers and workers of the waste management company, HYSACAM, spent several hours offloading the bins, which temporarily occupied much of the council’s courtyard. City Mayor Paul Efome L. M. Ngale had earlier announced during the 2026 budget session of the council that the municipality would experience a significant boost in waste management infrastructure this year. The arrival of the bins appears to mark the first concrete phase of that commitment. According to council officials, the new bins are expected to enhance household and public waste collection, reduce indiscriminate dumping, and improve environmental hygiene within the municipality.
