Cooperation In Agriculture, Livestock: Indonesian Ambassador Explores Opportunities

Within the framework of enhancing cooperation ties between Cameroon and Indonesia, the Ambassador, Agung Cahaya Sumirat embarked on a working visit to the Adamawa, North and Far North Regions of the country from January 12-17, 2026, identifying and mapping out cooperation opportunities in agriculture and livestock, climate change impact mitigation as well as strengthening education and socio-cultural collaboration. Throughout his visit in the regional capitals, he held meetings with the Governors, traditional leaders and local economic operators, exchanging views, exploring cooperation opportunities and gaining first insights into the challenges faced by local businesses in agriculture, livestock, trade and agro-processing. Noting that northern Cameroon is one of the country’s key food production regions, with major commodities including rice, sorghum, cotton, largescale cattle farming, the Ambassador highlighted the strong potential for cooperation with Indonesia, which he said has comparative advantages in agricultural inputs and agro-livestock processing technologies. “Cameroon’s needs in agriculture and livestock align closely with Indonesia’s capacities, both upstream and downstream. This creates opportunities for practical and mutually beneficial partners,” Agung Cahaya Sumirat stated.
