Micro Finance Sector: Specialized Training For Quality Personnel

In a bid to close the professional inefficiency gaps in the micro finance sector, a network of Credit Unions has created an institute to train management staff of the micro finance establishment in Cameroon. The Rainbow Higher Institute of Applied Micro-Finance Management was launched recently in Buea with the objective to providing the financial sector with skilled, ethical workforce needed to build stable institutions and prosperous communities. With authorization from the Ministry of Higher Education, the institute which is first of its kind in the financial sector in Cameroon, will serve as an incubator of skills to bridge the gap between academic theory and industry reality, transforming graduates into high performing ready-to-deploy professionals of the banking sector. The Board Chairman of the Rainbow Network of Credit Unions in Cameroon (RAINBOWCAM), under whose canopy the Institute operates, HRM Fon Angwafo IV of Mankon, stated during the launching ceremony that the move to create a specialized training institute for the staff of micro finance sector, contributes to government’s policy of promoting financial inclusion, fighting poverty at the grassroots and ensuring a strong financial system through innovative financial solutions. To him, it is a ground-breaking initiative aimed at equipping graduates with practical micro finance skills.
