
South West Governor decorated the deceased posthumously with the Medal of Bravery
The 21st Motorised Infantry Battalion premises in Buea was on April 7, 2017 transformed into a theatre of wailing and melancholy. Family members of a fallen soldier, the deceased’s fiancée and colleague soldiers wept uncontrollable as the casket bearing the corpse of Corporal Itoe Walters Ebale was being ushered to the ceremonial ground amidst sorrowful melody oozing from the military band as the corpse was set for the final military honours. Having served in the Arm Force for just five years and few months, Corporal Itoe Walters Ebale met his doom last March 4, 2017 in Mora Far North Region alongside four other soldiers when an improvised device planted by Boko Haram insurgents exploded killing them. The lone eulogy read at the funeral was telling of a young soldier who served his nation with bravery and honour. Richard Muabe, elder brother to the late Corporal, murmured in tears to the press that a rising star in their family has been quenched.
