Bamenda: All Sectors Committed To success

The various committees set up to ensure meticulous preparations are at work and rehearsals are ongoing for a thrilling military parade.

Since April 20, 2026 when North West Regional Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique presided at the first preparatory meeting ahead of the 54th edition of Cameroon’s National Day celebrations coming up on May 20, 2026, serious work has been going in different sectors. This year’s edition of the celebration is on the theme, “National unity: Backbone of our defence system, bedrock of Cameroon’s development.” Governor Lele Lafrique used the enlarged preparatory meeting to urge the population of the North West capital city Bamenda in particular and that of the region in general to prepare well for a massive and memorable participation in this year’s National Day festivities. Coming just a month after the Holy Father Pope Leo XIV visit to Bamenda that witnessed an unprecedented mobilisation, the Governor called on the people of the North West to demonstrate the same spirit during the National Day celebration and to further put into practice recommendations for a return to peace and normalcy the Holy Father preached. Indeed, the various committees set up to prepare for successful National Day festivities are working tooth and nail. Governor Lele Lafrique has been holding evaluation meetings with the various committee heads to get updates on preparations and give instructions so as to ensure a historic celebration.
