Bamenda: Great Attachment To National Unity

The military and civilians demonstrated their pride to be Cameroonians and determination to foster national unity.

Celebrations marking the 54th edition of Cameroon’s National Day at the Bamenda Commercial Avenue Grandstand on May 20, 2026 once again demonstrated the yearning of the people for normalcy and commitment to foster the country’s unity in diversity and development. North West Regional Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique chaired the ceremony. It started with the award of National Day medals to scores of meritorious people. The decorations in order of descending importance ranged from Officers of National Order of Valour down to medals of Public Force. The most thrilling part of the celebration was the march past. The military parade opened this phase of the event with the population constantly applauding the performance of foot soldiers. They witnessed the attachment of defence and security forces, as well as other para-military structures to national unity, defence of territorial integrity and fostering national development. As such, elements of the military, National Gendarmerie, Police, Penitentiary Administration, Ex-servicemen, Customs and Forestry and Wildlife under the command of Colonel Banlog Fidele Roger showcased the marching skills.
