Bafoussam: Celebration In Pomp

It was an enthusiastic crowd of over 40, 000 people, comprising school pupils, students, various detachment of military and security forces, social and cultural groups, militants of political parties that turned out in jubilant style in Bafoussam on May 20, 2026, to give the 54th National Day cerebration the pomp and gaiety it deserved. The ceremony full of ecstatic emotions, was presided over by Governor Awa Fonka Augustine, and came with certain innovations that added more grease to the celebration. Firstly, the ceremony was moved to the modern Toket stadium, that is more spacious for the occasion, with a befitting grandstand, creating an open space for the dignitaries and the mammoth crowd that came out. This because the former Bafoussam grand stand in undergoing renovation works. Another highlight, was the superb military march-past, involving the various detachment of the Gendarmerie, Police, and ex-service men, that thrilled the Bafoussam public, by marching buoyantly in top military regalia, with military vehicles and equipment.
