Buea: Military, Civilians Showcase Prowess

Buea (Fako) - The celebration of the 54th edition of the National Day on May 20, 2026, at Bongo Square in Buea has once more showcased how the military and the civilian blend can stand up for the nation. While the Defence and Security Forces showcased their military might through the display of military wares, combat vehicles, and physical prowess as they marched, the civilian population on the other hand sang patriotic songs and marched with calculated steps as they celebrated national unity. The troops were commanded by Lt. Col. Ze Bekale Georges Stephane, Commander of the 21st Command and Support Battalion. The event which opened at 10am with the arrival of South West Regional Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai, saw 60 Cameroonians honoured with various medals. The second segment had the military parade led by the National Gendarmerie. It was followed by ex- service men, national security, penitentiary administration, customs, forestry administration, and tailed by the motorized units.
