Sustainable Agriculture: CAPEF, Canadian Partners Explore Circular Economy Solutions

A delegation from Horizon Cameroun recently held talks in Yaounde with leaders of the Confederation of Agropastoral Actors of Cameroon.
In a major step toward fostering international agricultural partnerships, Oussoumanou Sehou, the Provincial Delegate (Quebec) of the Canada-Africa Chamber of Commerce recently met in Yaounde with leaders of the Confederation of Agropastoral Actors of Cameroon, CAPEF.
Digital Transformation, Skills Development
The high-level meeting aimed to explore strategic collaborations in agriculture, digital transformation, AgriTech, and skills development. The dialogue centered on introducing the core vision of Horizon Cameroon, bridging connections between local Cameroonian agricultural actors, the diaspora, Canadian partners, and key economic institutions.
Productivity Through AgriTech
A primary focus of the discussions was addressing the structural challenges facing Cameroon’s agricultural sector. Both parties explored how modern technologies can revolutionize local productivity, processing, and marketing. Particular attention was dedicated to the integration of AgriTech solutions, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analytics for farm management. Smart farming tools designed to optimize resource efficiency. And innovative digital platforms to streamline the agricultural supply chain and maximize value creation.
Knowledge Transfer, Youth Empowerment
Representing both Horizon Cameroun and FAZ Vision AI, Oussoumanou Sehou outlined concrete paths for knowledge transfer between Canada and Cameroon. These proposals target critical areas such as modern agricultural mechanization, agro-food processing, technical training, and entrepreneurial mentorship.
Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the necessity of launching dedicated training programs for youth and women. The goal is to equip a new generation of agri-entrepreneurs with the tools of smart agriculture and the circular economy, preparing them to build highly profitable and sustainable agribusinesses.
Bridging The Two Continents
The Canada-Africa Chamber of Commerce was positioned as a vital facilitator to connect businesses, investors, research centers, and academic institutions across both continents. This setup opens doors for Cameroon to collaborate directly with Canadian firms specializing in agricultural equipment, food processing, and environmental technologies. As a concrete next step, an official invitation was extended to CAPEF to attend the upcoming Horizon Cameroon Montréal 2026 forum, scheduled for November 14, 2026.
