Preparing For Tomorrow: “Center For Jobs Of The Future” Opening Soon In Cameroon

The announcement followed recent talks in Yaounde between Oussoumanou Sehou of Canada-based Horizon Cameroun Minister Mounouna Foutsou of MINJEC.

In a major push to equip the next generation with cutting-edge skills, Oussoumanou Sehou, the Provincial Delegate (Quebec) for the Canada–Africa Chamber of Commerce, recently held a strategic working session with Cameroon's Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, MINJEC, Mounouna Foutsou.
The high-level meeting builds directly upon the existing conventions and economic partnerships established between the Chamber and various Cameroonian institutions to accelerate economic growth, entrepreneurship, and workforce development.

Training Youth For The Global Digital Economy
At the heart of the discussions was the presentation of the "Center for Jobs of the Future" (Centre des Métiers du Futur). Designed as an ultra-modern professional training hub, the center aims to prepare young Cameroonians for the core tech and green industries reshaping the global market.

The ambitious project will offer hands-on, practical, and professional certifications in highly strategic, high-yield domains, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital transformation; electromobility and automation; smart agriculture (agritech) and renewable energy; digital health and the circular economy. And tech maintenance and tech entrepreneurship.
The overarching goal is to equip Cameroonian youth with concrete, market-ready skills that bridge the gap between education and employment. While actively stimulating local innovation and start-up creation.

Tech Gender Gap, Leveraging The Diaspora
The delegation placed a strong emphasis on inclusivity, designing specific pathways within the project to boost the enrollment of girls and young women in these emerging industrial and technological fields.
To maximize reach, the proposed center will utilize a hybrid learning model, combining in-person technical workshops, distance learning, and specialized mentorship programs. This framework will rely heavily on knowledge transfer from global tech experts and the Cameroonian diaspora, leveraging the extensive international network of the Canada–Africa Chamber of Commerce.
"MINJEC representatives expressed strong interest in the initiative, praising its alignment with Cameroon's urgent demand for highly specialized technical talent," the delegation stated following the meeting.

Ticket For Montreal
In alignment with this vision, an official invitation was extended to Minister Mounouna Foutsou. To participate in the prestigious Horizon Cameroon international summit, scheduled for November 14, 2026, in Montreal, Canada. The event will serve as a premier matchmaking platform. Uniting public institutions, private enterprises, universities, and international investors to build sustainable bridges for skill transfers and tech financing.
This successful meeting marks a definitive step forward for the Horizon Cameroun’s vision. Laying the groundwork for a public-private partnership dedicated to turning Cameroon's youth into the tec...
