North West: GCE Writing Resumes In Serenity

Officials moved round the centres yesterday to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.

Candidates sitting the General Certificate of Education (GCE) for general education in the North West Region resumed writing the examination all over the region on Monday June 22, 2026 after a two-week suspension caused by leakage. All is being done to respect the regulations governing the examination and the instructions of the Minister of Secondary Education, Professor Nalova Lyonga. It was with the determination to ensure that the resumption of the written part of the GCE was hitch-free and void of fraud that education officials of the North West Region visited some writing centres. Both the North West Regional Delegate of Secondary Education, Baijong Ezekiel Ndifon and officials of the North West Regional Delegation of GCE Board led by its Director, Dr Kenneth Ngu Foncha, were on the field. After inspecting the start of the examination in Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) Bamendankwe in Bamenda I Subdivision, the officials had a positive appraisal. The Regional Delegate of Secondary Education, Baijong Ezekiel Ndifon told the press that, “I have moved round. I have gone from hall to hall. The regulations that govern the examination are well respected. The instructions of the Minister of Secondary Education are well respected.” In detail, he said, “The candidates are in their sitting positions one per bench as instructed and the number of invigilators per hall are also respected.
