On individual and collective bases, civil society organisations most especially are organising various activities to combat hate speech in the society.
Besides the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism, are other actors in the fight against hate speech and xenophobia in the society. These actors are mainly representatives of civil society organisations, traditional rulers, opinion leaders and officials of political parties. Through several actions, they are actively involved in combating hate speech and tribalism through digital monitoring, media literacy, sensitisation campaigns, education, grassroots inter-community dialogues, and partnerships with State institutions as is the case between the Bilingualism Commission and 14 civil society organisations through the creation of national platform on the fight against the vice. In most cases, civil society organisations make use of their regional networks, to disseminate educative messages and promote tolerance at the community level. Educational material is produced on fliers, banners, and posters for the population to get adequately informed.
