Women, Youths: Actors That Matter

Reflections were organised on their contribution to the promotion of peace, leadership and climate change.

D eliberations of the 51st session of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie that just concluded in Yaounde on July 11, 2026 fea­ tured several recommendations on promoting the values, unity and strength of the Orga­ nisation. In the course of reflections, women and youths made known their contribution to enhancing peace amongst member States, leadership, mitigating the effects of climate change and safeguarding the concept of multilateralism. On the sidelines of the high-level gathering, was the meeting of the Network of Women Parliamentarians who gathered to review women's political leadership, discuss hostile sexism, and adopt a declaration to strengthen feminist parliamentary diplomacy within the Women, Peace and Security agenda. Meeting on July 8, 2026 at the hemicycle of the Senate, legislative progress across member States in promoting empowerment was assessed, with other reflections focusing on young women's civic participation, and targeted strategies against hostile sexism, unjustified masculine domination, and social isolation.
