Good Governance: PIC, Regional, Local Authorities Chart

R egional and Local authorities of the North West have applauded the contributions of the Public In­ dependent Conciliator in ensuring good governance in Regional and Local Coun­ cils. This was during a debriefing and benchmarking workshop that took place in Bamenda on July 14, 2026. During his opening statement, the PIC Tamfu Simon Fai revealed that, “It is a fa­ mily reunion to reflect collectively on the state of governance in our region and chart practical pathways towards streng­ thening transparency, accounting and quality service delivery within our regio­ nal and local authorities.” Through various presentations, staff of the Office of the PIC presented the 2025 Annual Report. The report highlighted both the achievements recorded and the challenges that continue to affect gover­ nance in the Regional and Local Autho­ rities in the region. While acknowledging that progress was made through expan­ ded outreach, strengthened partner­ ships, improved complaint management and an intensified good campaign, the report also highlighted persistent concerns relating to transparency, ac­ countability, service delivery and public confidence in some regional and local institutions.
