Forthcoming Council, Parliamentary Polls: CPDM Unveils Six-Month Timeline To Execute Roadmap

In a major political gathering reflecting the approach of upcoming national electoral deadlines, the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, CPDM on July 22, 2026 opened a high-level strategic seminar in the Yaoundé Conference Centre. The summit brought together party elite, Central Committee members, national figures, and party field leaders to craft a unified roadmap for the upcoming legislative and municipal elections.

High-level Attendance

Presided by the Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee, Jean Nkuete, the summit was attended by key state figures, notably the President of the Senate, Aboubakary Abdoulaye and the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute. Nkuete highlighted their presence as a sign of commitment, noting that their participation added "a special radiance" to the strategic gathering. Despite the intense demands of their official duties.

Key Agenda Items

The agenda for the meeting covered several critical areas. Such as the opening keynote address: delivered by Secretary General Jean Nkuete. In which he laid out political directives, evaluated party history, and set strategic goals. There were high-level discussions among regional and divisional leaders regarding local political conditions. Then thematic presentations, which detailed briefings on capacity-building, mobilization tools, communication strategies, and electoral logistics. And finally, the summit closed with remarks and formal guidance by the Secretary General, instructing field officers to cascade the summit's conclusions down to local subdivisions.

Decade Of Regional Delegations (2016–2026)

Opening his address, Jean Nkuete marked the 10th anniversary of the establishment of permanent regional delegations of the CPDM Central Committee across Cameroon’s 10 regions. Recalling the enthusiasm surrounding their creation 10 years ago, he noted that the delegations have successfully addressed administrative gaps and structural issues within the party.

"On this 10th anniversary, we are able, and entitled, to affirm that the record of the permanent delegations of the Central Committee is largely positive," Nkuete declared. "Thanks to your commitment, your courage, your devotion, and your tenacity, the CPDM has experienced remarkable developments, which have allowed it to progressively and solidly reinforce its position as the leading republican political party in Cameroon."

He noted that these regional structures have improved party discipline, strengthened ties between leadership and the base. As well as enhanced local political vigilance, and established the CPDM as a key support system for the Head of State, National President of the CPDM, His Excellency Paul Biya.

October 2025 Presidential Election

The summit provided a platform to review the political landscape following the October 12, 2025 presidential election. Nkuete addressed the complex dynamics of the poll, describing it as a vote influenced by political pressure and external maneuvers. He described the election as exposing an alliance of negative forces targeting the country's stability.

However, he emphasized that the election ultimately demonstrated the party's durability and organizational strength.

"In our country, history is never written with conspiracies, even if these conspiracies constitute, in themselves, facts of history," Nkuete remarked. "Beyond the very beautiful victory of its prestigious candidate, the CPDM demonstrated its ability to resist, to face challenges, and to assert itself as a major party - an unavoidable and essential party for the harmonious and sustainable construction of Cameroon."
