Guidance, Training, Employment Initiative: Nationwide Expansion Boosted

The Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training on August 4, 2026 in Yaounde, launched the second edition of ORFEV- Jeunes, to empower 25,000 young job seekers.

Youth unemployment remains a persistent struc­ tural hurdle, leaving thousands of young people without direct pathways into the modern work­ force or public sector roles in Cameroon. To mitigate this, the Youth Holiday Guidance, Training, and Employment initiative known by the French acronym ORFEV-Jeunes, is missioned to bridge the gap between education, practical skills, and real-world employment opportunities. In its second edition, the interim Minister of Em­ ployment and Vocational Training, Mounouna Foutsou, revealed that the initiative is scaling its impact to train over 25,000 young people. He explained that the 2026 edition planned from August 4 to September 15, 2026 will focus on fast-growing sectors like the digital economy, renewable energy and telecommunications, along­ side often-overlooked fields like sports industry trades that offer strong potential for social and economic integration.
