Energy Supply: Rationing In Course

The Minister of Water and Energy, Gaston Eloun­ dou Essomba, in an August 5, 2026 press release, announced temporary disruptions in electricity supply in certain localities across the country due to maintenance works being done by the National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH), from August 5 to 7, 2026 at the Kribi gas-fired thermal power plant. In accordance with technical and safety requirements, the power plant has been exceptionally shut down for the entire pe­ riod, consequently leading to a temporary re­ duction in the generation capacity of the Southern Interconnected Grid.
