South West: Ekondo-Titi Chief Award Scholarships

Ekondo-Titi (Ndian) - The Traditional Ruler of the 2nd Class Chiefdom of Ekondo-Titi, HRM Chief Justice Achia Nawango Manfred has doled out scho­ larships to some 20 deserving but underprivileged learners in his chief­ dom, as part of his commitment to providing education for all. The bene­ ficiaries of the philanthropic gesture of the traditional authority comprises of 10 indigenes and 10 non-indigenes in a bid to promote living together. The second edition of the scholarship award scheme held in Ekondo-Titi re­ cently in the presence of the Divisional Officer of Ekondo-Titi, Francis Ful and traditional authorities of the chiefdom. To ensure transparency and fairness in the selection process, beneficiaries were identified through established community structures. The 10 indi­ genous children were selected from the different families that make up Ekondo-Titi, while the 10 non-indi­ genes were nominated by respected quarter heads. Each beneficiary re­ ceived a scholarship worth FCFA 50,000, to ease financial burden on parents on the eve of the 2026-2027 academic year. The second edition of the scholarship scheme witnessed an increase of five beneficiaries, taking the number to 20, from 15 in the pre­ vious edition.
