Municipal Police: Fourth Batch Of Trainees Graduate

T he fourth batch of municipal police trained by the Buea-ba­ sed National School of Local Administration (NASLA) has comple­ ted their training at the Mutengene Police Training and Application Cen­ ter (CIAP) as they graduated on Sep­ tember 3, 2026. The 116 municipal police officers commenced their trai­ ning on June 4, 2026, which lasted for three months. They are from 11 councils (two city councils and nine subdivision councils) among which are the Bafoussam City Council, Kribi City Council, Kousseri Council, Foum­ ban Council, and Bafoussam III Coun­ cil. The Municipal police are expected to maintain public order, safety of ci­ tizens, tranquility and public health within their respective councils. The municipal police were trained on interrogation approach and demons­ tration method based on simulation and visual aids. The Commander of CIAP, Police Commissioner, Dr. Nith Pierre, said the municipal police is a pillar in local development and social cohesion. Consequently, they recei­ ved lessons on citizenship, respect of hierarchy, self-defense and coope­ ration of institutions among others. Initially 117, one of the trainees was unfortunately dismissed for indisci­ pline in the course of the training. The Director General of NASLA, Ta­ nyitiku Enohachuo Bayee, saluted the high sense of discipline and com­ mitment demonstrated by the trai­ nees.
