Transformation In Cameroonian Schools: Digitalization, Inclusion, And Discipline Mark 2026/2027 Resumption

As schools reopened across Cameroon on September 9, 2026 for the 2026/2027 academic year, educational institutions - spanning public, mission, and private sectors - are rolling out major pedagogic, technological, and structural innovations.

Guided by the overarching ministerial vision centered on "Digital transformation and artificial intelligence for inclusive governance and quality teaching and learning in a healthy and protective environment," school administrators are taking decisive steps to elevate the overall quality of secondary education.

Ministerial Pilot Initiatives

In Government Bilingual High School, GBHS Ekounou, Yaounde, one of the Vice Principals, Mr. Aneh Macole, highlighted a major milestone. The school’s transformation via an official ministerial decision to a pilot center for inclusive education. The pilot programme will cater to visually impaired students and physically challenged students with mobility difficulties.

GBHS Ekounou, Yaounde administration is overhauling campus infrastructure to make it fully accessible to learners with physical disabilities. While, campus-wide campaigns - featuring strategic billboards - actively promote zero tolerance for discrimination based on tribe, language, or gender. While also targeting social stigmatization.

Special Protection

On the other hand, special protection has been established to eliminate the stigmatization of female students. This includes active retention strategies for pregnant students to prevent dropout. Alongside targeted encouragement for girls pursuing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects.

Similarly, at Pinnacle of Success Academy, PSA in Ekoumdoum, Yaoundé, Dr. Nalionge Maximillianus Ewoko has introduced sign-language awareness into the regular school culture. To foster broader social integration and communication skills among all learners.

Technological Integration, AI, Smart Classrooms

In line with the 2026/2027 national educational guidelines, schools are shifting from traditional teaching models to Holistic Digital Pedagogy. Mrs. Hannah Mojoko Motutu née Becke, the Principal of Saker Baptist College, Limbe in the South West Region Principal, announced that all 11 streams for Forms 1 and 2 are now equipped with dedicated laptops and projectors.

Every lesson in these lower levels is digitally projected, moving the school fully into interactive instruction. The school has also introduced customized digital tools across the learning continuum and updated student identification by embroidering the school logo directly onto uniforms, Mrs. Motutu added.

Computer Literacy

In Government Bilingual High School, Ekounou, Yaounde, one of the Vice Principals, Mr. Aneh Macole, confirmed the organization of internal digital training workshops specifically tailored for "computer illiterate" teaching staff.

The goal is to ensure all educators effectively utilize Information and Communication Technology, ICT and Artificial Intelligence, AI for lesson preparation and delivery. In teaching students to avoid the negative pitfalls of electronic gadgets.

Dr. Ewoko emphasized that technology integration in PSA is not a mere trend, but a structured framework to improve student evaluation, enhance follow-up. And increase practical science training beyond theoretical learning.

Administrative Discipline

Schools are also implementing structured measures to ensure order, security, and a healthy academic atmosphere. In Government Bilingual High School, GBHS, Garoua-Boulaï in the East Region, the Principal, Mr. Oscar Egbe Mbeng, announced the appointment of three new Senior Discipline Masters. Their arrival will directly strengthen the school’s administrative capacity, improve daily student supervision.
