Digital Economy: Int’l Forum Officially Opens Today

The meeting seeks to boost investment in the sector and achieve transition to a digital economy in the country.

The first International Forum on Digital Economy in Cameroon will officially be opened today at Hilton Hotel in Yaounde. The forum which seeks to lure financial institutions to invest in Cameroon’s digital sector started yesterday with Business-to-Business meetings and is expected to end tomorrow. During yesterday’s sessions, over 21 encounters took place between Cameroon’s digital project bearers and national/international investors.
Going by the Technical Adviser to the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Dr. Mfuh W. Kenji, business of today, besides the official launching which shall be marked by the presence of government dignitaries, will focus on workshops. Some four serious workshops have been programmed. We learned the first workshop will focus on telecommunications infrastructures and their financing, with experts like the Director General of CAMTEL, David Nkoto Emane and Dr. Ernest Simo of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The second workshop will deal with financing of Cameroon’s digital economy businesses.
