Anglophone Crisis: Accused Religious Appear In Court

The Bamenda Court of First Instance has ordered the civil party to pay a deposit, register direct summons before next session billed for July 24, 2017

 

“Justice will be seen to be done” is the message from the presiding Magistrate, Justice Theresse Bikele who on June 5, 2017 adjourned to July 24, 2017 the matter pitting the Consortium of Parents whose children are in various Mission academic institutions against Catholic, CBC church leaders and some principals in the North West Region. Justice Therese Bikele assured litigants of fair play in the matter after what the court exceptionally offered the civil party that was absent, the last chance to be available on July 24. The ruling was made after separate court sessions, one pitting the Consortium of Parents against Catholic Church leaders, (Archbishop Cornelius Fontem Esua, Auxiliary Bishop, Michael Bibi, the Principals of Sacred Heart college, Our Lady of Lourdes college and St Bedes College, Ashing-Kom) and   the 2nd against the Executive President of the Cameroon Baptist Convention, (CBC), Rev. Ncham Godwill Chiatoh.
In effect, hall I of the Bamenda Magistrate’s Court could not contain the crowd that filed out to witness what some people qualify as high profile cases with the church leaders. They were charged to answer seven charges among which are failure to ask parents to send their children back to school. The Consortium of Parents is also claiming the sum of FCFA 150 million from respective churches. The Consortium , acting through Col. Tamambang,  Lt. Col. Terence Sama and Lt.
